Description
The HUANGLING Sideboard is a captivating antique from Dongbei, China, dating to around 1920 and crafted from Chinese pine. With its rich red lacquer surface and original hand-painted floral motifs, this piece is steeped in symbolic meaning and timeless charm. Each panel features carefully hand painted flower arrangements in traditional vases, resting on carved stands — a classic motif symbolising refinement and cultivation.
The flowers include bold peonies, symbols of wealth, honour, and feminine beauty, alongside graceful water lilies which represent purity, rebirth, and spiritual harmony. Painted on the lower base are two pomegranates. Emblems of abundance, fertility, and a prosperous lineage.
Its four central doors offer storage for modern needs, whith a removable shelf running the full width of the cabinet. The soft wear on the lacquer and natural variation in the painting reflects the character of a well-loved antique, making it both beautiful and unique.
