Orchid was born from an obsession with furniture. Beautiful shapes, colours and textures make our hearts skip a beat! We wanted to introduce others to such beauty, by offering up handpicked collections of oriental furniture and home accessories. Launched in 2002, Orchid is the product of our passion.
Our founder, Mimmi Brink, has 20 years’ experience in sourcing interesting, quality-made pieces from across China. From artisan ceramics to Chinese sideboards, every item is hand-selected to give your home character and function. Blending old and new, we also partner with skilled craftsmen who produce our authentic Chinese lacquer furniture.

When Mimmi Brink travels to China, she brings home a different kind of souvenir. Her goal is to source the most striking antique Chinese furniture for Orchid’s collections. Her eye for beautiful, well-made pieces is matched by her passion for inspiring customers with fresh design concepts.
Mimmi takes pride in offering a unique shopping experience and personalised service. She’s remained driven and dedicated to her business, while raising three boys and satisfying her self-proclaimed obsession with furniture.
Mimmi regularly travels to China to seek out antique Chinese furniture and find inspiration for new designs. With the help of her long-established contacts, Mimmi finds pieces of the past that spark desire and suit every home.
Often, Mimmi will stumble upon an item of Chinese lacquer furniture that has been faithfully restored, its traditional paintings dancing once more against freshly-glossed wood. Sometimes, she’ll find a time-worn Chinese sideboard, whose faded beauty she’ll have revived by skilled artisans. Lacquer console tables, Chinese cabinets and other oriental furniture are given a new lease of life – often with a splash of unexpected colour.
At Orchid, we focus on the personal touch. Some of our oriental furniture pieces are available to order in bespoke sizes and colours. You can choose a lacquer colour from our palette or provide your own sample; we’ll guarantee at least a 90% colour match.
Alternatively, you can commission your own design to be handmade from solid wood. Your piece can then be traditionally lacquered by hand in the colour of your choice.
