Antique Chinese Baskets & Rice Buckets

Handwoven in rural China from the early 1900s, these antique rice baskets were once everyday objects. Carried through village markets, filled in farmhouse kitchens, used with purpose for decades.

Each is individual. Made from willow or rattan and finished with a hand-bent bamboo handle, many carry ink calligraphy pressed directly into the wood. A date, a name, a household mark. No two are the same.

Our collection includes pieces from Shanxi, Gansu and surrounding provinces, dating from around 1900 to 1950. Styles range from tightly woven upright forms to wider, lower harvest shapes.

Use them as decorative accents, flower vessels, kindling holders, or as sculptural objects in their own right.
