Description
Bursting with colour and character, the HONG Antique Chinese Sideboard dates from around 1920 and originates from Gansu Province. Crafted from Chinese pine, its striking golden orange lacquer has developed a wonderfully weathered finish, with layers of natural wear revealing darker tones and glimpses of the original wood beneath.
The four panelled doors feature beautiful traditional hand-painted flower arrangements in shades of red, pink and green. Softly faded with age, the decorative artwork sits against the vibrant orange background, giving this piece a lovely rustic charm. The long, simple silhouette and traditional shaped detailing along the base add to its authentic oriental appeal.
At 178cm wide, HONG offers generous storage without being overly deep. Behind the four doors, removable internal shelving provides practical space for tableware, linens, books and everyday essentials. Its proportions make it a wonderful dining room sideboard, a statement hallway cabinet or a colourful addition to a living room. The generous top is also ideal for displaying lamps, artwork and favourite decorative pieces.
The warm orange lacquer looks particularly lovely alongside natural woods, soft neutrals and earthy greens, while the hand-painted decoration brings an extra layer of colour and personality. A fabulous piece of antique Chinese furniture for anyone looking to introduce something a little different into their home.
