Description
This captivating antique sideboard originates from Dongbei Province in northeast China and dates to around 1920. Handcrafted in Chinese pine, it features beautifully preserved original red lacquer and exquisite hand-painted motifs that speak of nature’s abundance and harmony. Floral sprays are elegantly framed by geometric borders, while the lower panel presents a tranquil painted scene: fish swimming among lotus blossoms, flanked by dragonflies and a peaceful landscape. A composition symbolising prosperity, peace, and renewal.
With its four-panelled doors, brass hardware, this traditional Dongbei sideboard balances decorative flair with functional simplicity. The timeworn patina enhances its character, while the dark contrasting top and sides provide grounding depth to the vivid red lacquer and gold-toned illustrations.
