Each Chinese antique in Orchid’s Originals collection starts its journey in the remote workshops of rural Southern China. Selected by founders Jemma Page and Mimmi Waugh on their regular visits, each piece is restored to its former glory, of the Kang or Qing dynasty, using traditional restoration methods. Wood is repaired, hardware is fitted and the lacquer or hand-painted decoration is restored to cabinets, consoles and sideboards. Upon arrival in the UK each restored antique is photographed and displayed on Orchid’s website and in Orchid’s London and Hampshire showrooms.
Orchid’s walnut furniture – the Stanley Collection – is designed in-house and is exclusive to Orchid. This collection offers a contemporary contrast of traditional walnut furniture with less of an oriental influence.
