Traditionally the Chinese wedding cabinet was a Chinese girl's 'bottom drawer'. A wedding cabinet was filled over the years with oriental silks and linens, then presented to the groom on the eve of the wedding. The circular pewter "Togetherness Panel" with the sliding key has carved illustrations of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac. The circle is a traditional Chinese design; symbolising the joining of two halves for one love.
