Rice Measure
This green lacquered wooden rice measure originated in the north-western Chinese province of Shanxi in 1950.
A rice measure offers very useful storage in the hallway, kitchen, bedroom or bathroom - it started life being used to measure rice by a market trader.
The sides are handpainted with pretty Chinese flowers which symbolise prosperity.
