This reproduction Chinese elm chair has an inset brown lacquered, rattan seat, and is lacquered to a glossy black finish.

The seat is gently dished for comfort, and the arms curve around to the front with a gentle slope for comfortable lsupport, as well as making it practical to be pulled up to a table or desk. The legs are a traditional Chinese design hinting at the Oriental origins of the piece.
